what kind of knitter am I?

You appear to be a Knitting Guru. You love knitting and do it all the time. While finishing a piece is the plan, you still love the process, and can't imagine a day going by without giving some time to your yarn. Packing for vacation involves leaving ample space for the stash and supplies. It can be hard to tell where the yarn ends and you begin.

fair isle from scratch

It's a long story. It begins with boxes and boxes and bags and bags of yarn I inherited, most all of it acrylic, most none of it more than three skeins of any one color or dye lot. And I'm getting pretty sick of variegated, so when I found five 100gm skeins of scarlet, I imagined there was enough for a sweater. Two skeins gone I knew there was no way enough of this one color/dye lot, and I'd have to make another plan...

So how about fair isle? I've never done it and don't know even the basics, but why should that stop me? Can you hear it? rippit, rippit...

Another thing that should have stopped me (if I had any sense) is the fact I didn't have a design pattern that would fit my cloth dimensions, but nooooo I spent a day redrawing the design instead.

After a bit of rippitting I figured out the correct way (for me) to hold the strands, and row by row am training my fingers to cooperate. Still don't know if I'll have enough yarn to finish the project, but oh well.

Here's the first 14 rows, complete:

stay tuned for updates...

mid-March KAL

It's the mid-March knit-along, the first one I'm a part of.   The only cotton yarn I had available was this emerald green:

My walk in the woods didn't happen today. Instead I spent over two hours locating and photographing my stash.

I'm here, and amazed

I am here, with a new blog, because I want to "flash my stash" April first. Haven't taken any pictures of the stash yet, want to wait for a sunny day when the bed's made up, as that's probably the only surface that'll hold all the stash.

I'm probably going to include my UFOs.

I'm amazed this blogname wasn't already taken! Seems a simple one to come up with, 'cause I'm pretty simple myself...

Anyway, this'll be a place for my knittery-and-other-needlework photos.

peace,
julie
